Accessibility statement

How accessible Phasorium is, how it is tested, where it falls short, and how to ask for an adjustment.

Phasorium aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. This statement says how the site is tested, where it falls short, and how to ask for help.

How it is tested

  • Every lesson, chapter and library page is checked with the axe accessibility engine, in both looks, against the WCAG 2.2 A and AA rules, before each change is published.
  • Every control of every instrument can be reached with the keyboard and shows where the focus is.
  • When your system asks for reduced motion, moving pictures stop on one frame and offer step buttons instead of play.
  • The same pages are checked at 390 pixels wide, the width of a small phone, for sideways scrolling.
  • Text has a contrast of at least 4.5 to 1 in both the dark and the light look.

Known limits

  • The instruments draw on a canvas, which a screen reader cannot read. Each one has a written description under it (Describe this picture), and the text around it says what to watch.
  • Sounds have no transcript. Each sound plays a signal that the picture beside it also draws.

Ask for an adjustment

If part of the site is hard for you to use, or you need a lesson in another form, write to talib_anas@hotmail.com. Say which page and what you need, and we will look for a way to provide it.
